Key Club is a service organization devoted to offering their time and efforts for a good cause. We are a student-led organization that provides members the opportunity to grow as an individual and ensure benefits as they continue to volunteer. Key Club International is the high school organization sponsored by Kiwanis International. Key Club assists Kiwanis in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels. The first Key Club formed in 1925 in Sacramento, California with 11 charter members.
As you may know, by dedicating 40 hours each year of your high school career to community service, you will be given a cord at graduation to commemorate your accomplishments. However, these hours are only allowed to come from onsite projects in which you are physically giving your time and energy. In order to ensure that you get credit for your donations and are able to log your onsite hours, we created a distinction between two different types of hours that will allow you to receive all the credit you deserve. Gold hours will only count toward your Key Club semester requirements and Navy hours will count toward the service cord in addition to your semester requirements. This means that Navy hours are the only hours you are allowed to log onto x2Vol.
Once you pay dues you are required to have a minimum of 15 service hours per semester. All hours must be key club sponsored hours which means we will not accept hours from outside affiliations. If you fail to meet the semester requirements you will be put on probation and forced to make up the remaining hours in the following semester.
